25 weeks and Family Update

Warning: Blog Backup- since I have been such a slacker on blogging, this blog is overwhelmingly long! Sorry...

Pregnancy: Today I am 25 weeks pregnant. All of a sudden everyone started to notice that my belly is a "pregnant belly." A couple of nights ago, while grocery shopping, a lady let me go through the door first because she said that I had a "cute pregnant belly." The while I was checking out, the cashier asked me how far along I was and I knew if it was a girl or a boy. I guess I am past the "I just look FAT stage!" Yeah!!!! My sixth graders have also started to notice. They are so cute and are very interested in the details. They always ask me to bring the baby in when I have her. I like that they are so interested in me! Also, I keep hearing about the count down to the Olympics. Every time I hear that number I get so excited! It is only SIX DAYS before I am due!!! We will have a BABY GIRL during the Olympics. That makes me so excited!!!!
October: Ok, this past month we made the decision to move up the street to a new complex. The rent and utilities are cheaper and we would like to save as much money as we can. The biggest down side is that we are not going to have a washer and dryer any more. I am really going to miss being able to put a load of laundry in when I leave and changing it when I get home. The upside is that we are going to have a backyard. I am excited about this. I can start a little garden! YEAH!! We already have the keys to the apartment, so we have been moving things over a little at a time. All of the baby stuff is already over there. Our official move date is November 21st.

Student teaching: Student teaching is going well. Starting this week, I am taking over 5 of the 8 segments of the day. It has been amazing how much I have grown to know and love my sixths graders. They are so much fun to talk to. I was so afraid that they would be non-responsive and that they wouldn't like me but it has turned out that they are very responsive and like when I teach. I am half way done and can't wait for school to be over. I have one more major assessment to do that is due on Saturday and then it is just down hill from there!! YEAH!

Golfing: Seth bought me a set of golf clubs for my birthday. I said that I was willing to give it a try. Then last night Seth took me to the driving range. I was a little afraid to go because my past experiences were not very good. To my pleasure, Seth was very understanding and patient. He used my "softball stance" to help me become a better at my golf swing. With his guidance, I was able to hit the ball farther than two feet in front of me. I actually enjoyed it! THANKS SETH! I think that is great for him too because now I am willing to go again! The only thing that felt weird was trying to put my arms over my growing belly! I soon figured out how to overcome this awkwardness.

Baking: I have been making Cinnamon-rolls like crazy. I first made them to give to a friends who has been so gracious to give us a bunch of baby stuff (which is such a blessing and we cannot thank them enough). Then we made them for dessert one Sunday and then again for my class the next Sunday. I am getting pretty good at rolling them! However, sad as it is, I am getting kind of sick of them. I know it is crazy to think, but maybe if we lay off of them for a little bit, I begin to enjoy them again.

Calling: I was teaching the 9 and 10 year-olds and then I was placed with the 4 and 5 year-olds. It is definitely a change and I will miss my other class but I do love the younger children as well and I am excited to learn more about them!

Sorry for the information over load and lack of pictures, I will try to be better at taking more pictures!

  1. Sounds like you have had a lot going on. You are definitely looking pregnant. Enjoy it while you can. Your life is about to change forever once the baby comes. Good luck with the new place. You are really going to miss that washer & dryer once the baby comes though.

  2. Wow! Your belly has grown a ton!! As for your blog length...that was nothing! My normal everyday posts are longer then that. Maybe I need to take the hint that mine are too long. Love the post! Miss you.

  3. You do make one cute preggo lady! Isn't it fun to see the belly pop? :)

I didn't know you were moving! Good luck, and let us know if you need any help. :)

Joel took me to a driving range once while I was pregnant with Alexis. (My belly wasn't as big as yours, though, so I can't imagine having to swing around it. Good for you!) I enjoyed it, too. Maybe we'll all have to go together at some point.

  4. Yay for a real pregnant belly. Not that you weren't pregnant before but it's fun when people can tell.
P.S. Tell Seth to call Mike to help you guys move and I'm sure he would be more than happy to help since all you can do is supervise :)

  6. We love the pictures Katie. Such a cute preggo belly. We didn't have a washer and drier at first with Killian, but it all works out. We were lucky enough to just head over to my moms house to do laundry. This also meant a free meal and a babysitter if we had any errands to run.
Good luck with the new place. Just think you dont have to move heavy boxes since you are pregnant so you can just relax and point everyone in the right direction.
Your brother has been talking about playing golf, but I have the same softball swing. I am lucky if I hit the ball! I think Killian is getting a set a golf clubs for her birthday. Maybe if we move out to California we can all play golf together.

  8. Thanks for all the comments. Sienna, we are moving in right next to the Fowers. We will miss the red wall. We miss your family as well!!
As for the washer and dryer! I know I am going to miss it with the baby but we gotta do what we gotta do... bummer!
Paula, You should move to Cali so that we can go golfing! Don't worry about the softball swing, it will get better... hehe!!!

  9. I can't believe you went to the driving range with that cute belly of yours--you're awesome! I totally would have pulled the "I'm pregnant" card on that one. That will be fun for you two to do together.

How fun that you'll be next to the Fowers. I know I was really worried about not having a washer and dryer with the baby, but it all worked out just fine. I often locked Ellen in our apartment while she was sleeping and would hurry to the laundry room and back as quickly as possible. It worked out pretty well. Good luck with the move!
